When we think about the future, it could either go two ways: excitement or dread.
As Christians, the future looks promising.
We know that we have a home in heaven and that Jesus is coming back soon.
Here is what Jesus taught,
“Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat! He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn. But whenever he comes, he will reward the servants who are ready. “Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” (Luke 12:35-40 NLT)
Jesus is telling us to be ready.
To be ready, we must act ready.
“Teach us to realize the brevity of life so that we may grow in wisdom.” (Psalms 90:12;NLT)
Jesus gives us a charge to live a life that glorifies Him. Because we do not know when He will be coming back.
Even though not all of us will see the return of Jesus, our days on this earth are limited.
Here is encouragement from the apostle Paul,
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” (Ephesians 5:15-16;NLT)
We all have 24- hours a day. How are you living for Jesus?
Depending on what season of life you are in, honor God in whatever you do.
Make the most of your time.
Live purposefully
