Davidic covenant
“Furthermore, the Lord declares that he will make a house for you—a dynasty of kings! For when you die and are buried with your ancestors, I will raise up one of your descendants, your own offspring, and I will make his kingdom strong. He is the one who will build a house—a temple—for my name. And I will secure his royal throne forever.” 2 Samuel 7:11-13 NLT
The Davidic covenant is an unconditional covenant that God made with King David. You can find a covenant record in 2 Samuel 7 and summed up in 1 Chronicles 17:11–14 and 2 Chronicles 6:16. God speaks to the prophet Nathan, declaring His intention to establish an everlasting throne for David’s descendants. In the covenant, God promised David that his son would succeed him as king, and God restated the promise of land to the nation of Israel.
God’s Promise
God’s promise to David was an unconditional covenant. God did not place any stipulations that David or his descendants had to follow to fulfill the covenant. God’s promise to David had a far-reaching implication than David or the nation of Israel might have realized.
God’s promise was promising one who would rule forever. Jesus Christ.
Promise Kept
In the short term, the nation of Israel got the land promised by God, and David’s son Solomon became king and ruled over Israel.
Christ, the Son of David, did come to earth to free humanity of sin.
“Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting,
“Praise God for the Son of David! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Praise God in highest heaven!” Matthew 21:9 NLT
What does this mean for us today?
Faithfulness. God made a promise and kept it. How comforting to know that God can be trusted.
Time and time again, God demonstrates this attribute to us in scripture. In Genesis 3, God promised, “And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” (3:15 NLT)
Progressively, God reveals His plan of redemption to a fallen people. Us.
Jesus will return to establish His eternal kingdom, fulfilling the promise of an unending throne for David’s descendants (Revelation 22:16). This eternal kingship offers hope and assurance to believers that God’s promises endure for all time.
In our present day, until Christ returns, God has promised forgiveness, the Holy Spirit, comfort in difficult times, and many other assurances. Digging deep into Scripture to learn and know how faithful God is essential. His promises are true.

Every single promise he keeps and remains the same. The interesting and loving thing about GOD, he individually loves HIS children just the way we need to be loved. We have to yield to HIS word and promises because without fail HE delivers on what He said!!
