Why is gratefulness so crucial in the life of a believer?
Gratefulness demonstrates our acknowledgment that what we have or do we did not achieve on our own.
For starters, just living and breathing, we cannot do anything without God. He gives us breath in our lungs and keeps our hearts beating.
God has allowed so many things in our lives that we can do nothing without Him. When we show gratitude to Him, we are saying to Him that we need Him.
We had help.
Each day it is essential to reflect on the things God has done in our lives.
Without Him, nothing is possible.
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” 1 Chronicles 16: 34 (ESV)
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High” Psalm 92:1 (ESV)
“giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Ephesians 5:20 (ESV)
As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving let’s remember what our gratefulness means.
We are celebrating the fact that without God, we can do nothing. We are acknowledging His mighty power in our lives and the grace He has given us for each day.
