Whether you are new in your faith in Jesus or have been walking with Him for some time, it is important to remember that God is always with us. It is through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Living in this world is challenging a lot of the time. Loss of family members, job, home, and many other hardships that come with life sometimes can make us depressed. At times life is not the blessing we think it should be.
We should remember
1.God the Holy Spirit is always with us
2. The Holy Spirit will guide us
On a couple of occasions, Jesus promised His disciples that the Holy Spirit was coming after He had left. See Act 1:6-9, & John 14:23-26
As believers, John remained the churches of how to live out the commandments of God. It is only through the Spirit of God living in us that we can do it.
“And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.” I John 3:23-24 NLT
“Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.” I John 4:11-13 NLT
With the Holy Spirit living in us, this proves that God is always with us. David expressed it well in Psalms 23
In this well-known passage, David takes his experience as a shepherd to show us how God takes care of those He loves. God is with us through the darkest valleys. He gives rest, strength, guidance, protection, to name a few.
This knowledge should enhance our trust in God.
Proverbs 3:5-6 provides us this true to live by,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” NLT
One of the aspects of the Holy Spirit’s work is that He can provide guidance in our lives only if we trust in Him for that guidance.
James tells us we should ask for this guidance in the form of wisdom.
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.” James 1:5-8 NLT
A lot of times, life gets crazy, and we don’t know where to turn. Sometimes we forget that God is with us in the craziness and that we should turn to Him when we have doubts. We know that He is there. We need to seek the guidance that He can and provide us if we are willing to trust and follow.
Thank you for the assurance that the Holy Spirit is always with us. I am confronted with an issue that I do not know what to do. I am trusting the Holy Spirit for guidance. “I will instruct you and teach you the way to go, I will guide you with my eye.” (Psalm 32:8)
