When we read the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, we read the many miracles that Jesus performed. Healing the sick is one miracle that stands out to me the most.
“When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him.” Matthew 8:14-15 NLT
“After they had crossed the lake, they landed at Gennesaret. They brought the boat to shore and climbed out. The people recognized Jesus at once, and they ran throughout the whole area, carrying sick people on mats to wherever they heard he was. Wherever he went—in villages, cities, or the countryside—they brought the sick out to the marketplaces. They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed.” Mark 6:53-56 NLT
“As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed everyone.” Luke 4:40 NLT
The people in the Bible saw the evidence that Jesus was God. Many people came to Jesus to be healed or to heal their friends, servants, or relatives. They believe in what He could do because they either saw for themselves or heard about it from others.
When I read that Jesus healed the sick, it gives me hope that He can answer my requests too.
However, healing for us as Christian can take two paths, which are equally pleasing to God when it gives the most glory to Him.
I am talking about physical healing and spiritual healing. God can heal our physical bodies and allow us to continue to live on this earth.
Or our spiritual healing where we are at home with Him.
As the person who is physically ill and a believer in Christ, this is a win-win situation. It is just a matter of where you will be with your heal body. On earth or in heaven?
As a relative or friend, this can be hard to endure even though we know that in heaven, they are in a far better place than this sinful world.
Just like the people of the Bible, they came to Jesus, expecting healing.
When we go to Jesus in prayer, we go before Him excepting the healing in faith. Yet, we do not always know what healing God has planned for our relative, friend, or maybe yourself.
The gospels record the life of Jesus on the earth. They show us that Jesus came to die for our sins, but He also came to show us His power as God.
He has shown us that He can do the impossible in whichever way He chooses. We are to sing His praise to those around us.
So as we look at the miracles of Jesus healing the sick, we know that we are to come to Him expectedly and in faith.
