The Academy Awards, The Grammy’s, The BET Awards, The NAACP awards, The Stellar Awards, The Golden Globe, The Pulitzer Prize, The Nobel Peace Prize ….. and the list goes on and on. In this day in time, there are a wide variety of awards that sing the praises and accomplishments of people today. Some honor the achievements of those that have passed on. How do we honor and praise the name of the Lord in our daily lives?
When we read Luke 11:2a (NLT), Jesus teaches us to acknowledge the greatness of the name of God. “Jesus said, “This is how you should pray: “Father, may your name be kept holy.” In the King James Version it says, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”
When we pray, we should acknowledge God for who He is and praise His name. Many of the Psalms show us how to express praise to the Lord.
Here are a few that have stood out to me:
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD! (Psalms 150:6;NLT)
Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD! Praise him, you who serve the LORD… (Psalm 135:1;NLT)
Everywhere—from east to west— praise the name of the LORD. (Psalm 113:3; NLT)
When we pray, we should tell the Lord how great He is and worship His holiness. Acknowledging who God is in our lives helps us to internalize the things He has done for us. We praise Him for being our Savior because He has saved us from sins. We praise Him for providing our needs because He has given us what we need. We serve an awesome God. We should never stop praising Him.

I try to praise GOD for everything that is me, keeping in mind that the negative things about myself which are not Christ-like shall to pass with consistent prayer and diligence on my part to be better each day.
Amen!
I praise God for all that HE has done for me; blessing upon blessing, speaking to me through the Holy Spirit, and directing my paths. I praise and thank Him for who HE is and for sending His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins, because I never could have done anything to deserve eternal life. Thank you Father, thank you Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit.
Amen!
