“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.” (Psalms 62:5)
God is our Anchor, our Light, our Strength, our Father, our Hope. It is in Him we trust. To have hope, you are looking forward to something better. As believers, when we put our hope in Christ, we know that there is more to come.
“ We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield” (Psalms 33:20).
Our hope comes from our understanding of the goodness of God. He is good. Because of His goodness, His plan for us is great. “For I know the plans that I have for you says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Even in the darkest times, God’s word is a lamp for our feet. It is light for us to take the next step. Our hope should rest in God. His word tells of the hope we can have in Him. Let this be our prayer: “ I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word.” (Psalms 130:5).
Let us remember that hope in the Lord is not to get what we want. It is to receive God’s goodness and grace for our lives. We should be living for Him, and our heart’s desire should be to please Him in all that we do. He is faithful to give us our desires. “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” ( I Corinthians 2:9).
Even if we do not see our hopes and dreams in this life, remember, the best part of life is on the other side of this life.
What are your hopes? Do you believe that God can fulfill that hope?
“But Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence” (Jeremiah 31:17)
