Do you have a hard time admitting when you need help? Hopefully, we are free to ask the Lord for all of our needs; however, that may not be the case for some of us. Sometimes our pride gets in the way of genuinely asking for what we need. We have a hard time admitting that we can’t do something on our own. Having to rely on someone can be difficult. Relying on the Lord should not be that hard, but somethings, it is hard.
“Give us each day the food we need.” (Luke 11:3; NLT) Jesus is telling us to ask for our daily provisions. God promises to provide all of our needs, but we need to acknowledge to Him that we need His help.
Further down in Luke 11:9-10, Jesus states this, “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”(NLT)
Jesus tells us to ask for what we need, and God will provide. A great example of a daily provision is when the Israelites were in the wilderness, and God provided them with manna from heaven. “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day” (Exodus 16:4; NLT).
In teaching the disciples to pray, Jesus is teaching us to ask God for what we need. It should be a part of our prayers to Him.
Has God answered a need that you have been praying about? I would love to hear about it. Leave a comment or email me!
