December is just around the corner; literally, it’s tomorrow!
We are entering the Christmas season, even though Christmas decorations have been up since the first of November!
Christmas is when we celebrate the first coming of Jesus. His birth. As believers today, we were not there the first time, but there is a chance we will be there when Jesus comes again.
Jesus promised to come back. “….I will come and get you so that you will always be with me where I am.” John 14:3 NLT
“At his second coming sometime in the future, the God-man will return to earth in glorious triumph, not to deal with sin but to fully save all those who believe in him. This return will be personal: Christ himself – not his influence, or his teaching, or his spirit-mediated presence- will come to earth. He will return bodily, just as he left this earth when he ascended to heaven. He will return sudden, taking by surprise unbelievers who are not expecting his second coming. Christ will return triumphantly, with a glory and might.” (Allison, 2018)
At Christ’s birth, we look back. Jesus came to pay the penalty of our sins so that we can be made righteous before God. We look forward to His coming again to live with Him forever.
“..so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews 9:28 NLT
God is ways with us. We will endure many trials and struggles here on earth, but they will not last forever. Christ’s return. This is our future hope.
“He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus”! Revelation 22:20 NLT
