In the garden of Gethsemane, just before Jesus was arrested, a fight broke out. Here is what happened.
“And one of them struck at the high priest’s slave, slashing off his right ear. But Jesus said, “No more of this.” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.” (Luke 22:50-51:NLT)
Jesus was caring for others when He was being arrested. For us, I am sure we would not be thinking about the welfare of others if we were in this situation.
Jesus was performing miracles even on His way to die for us.
Jesus was living out what He taught.
“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you.” (Luke 6:27: NLT).
During our darkest moments, do we seek to do good to others? For me, I am sure it never crossed my mind. Usually, I am in my head, knee-high in my sorrows to think about someone else. While we can’t perform miracles, we can love others by doing good.
“Lord, in my trouble, help me to think about others. Help me not be so self and neglect to love others well. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
