Looking forward

January 6, 2021

It’s a New Year!

I know that this is something people have longed for since May or June of last year. Truth be told, there no magic in the calendar turning January 1st.

Yes, 2020 did not turn out the way any of us wanted it. Our world was different than we had ever seen it.

Now that year is done. How has it made you different? How has your faith in God been affected? Is it stronger?

For me, 2020 was the year I learned to notice how much God is in control of everything. He is in control of my life and the world.

In 2021, I don’t want to lose this. I want to have peace in knowing that God has everything in control.

Know and resting in this are two different things. I want to rest in the character of God. His attributes tell us that we can trust Him fully.

In this rest, I don’t want to have the mindset that God will give me everything I want, but he knows what is best for me, and I can trust Him with that.

I will still pray for the things that I hope and wish for, but I also pray that it is what God has for me in this life here on earth.

My eternal security is certain, so if I don’t make it in this life on earth, eternity with God will be even better.

As you look forward to 2021, what lessons from 2020 can you apply to this new year? I would love to hear about them. Leave a comment below or send me an email.

  1. I have learned that God is Sovereign and that He does all things well. I can truly rest on His character.
