As a person, it is comforting to have that friend or group of people you know in your life. As individuals, it’s not healthy for us to be alone all the time. Even in the Garden of Eden, in Genesis 2:18 & 21-22….“Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him…….. So, the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.”
Community is not just a concept; it’s a sense of belonging that we, as believers, thrive on. The church is a body of believers who worship, love, and serve together. Our unique abilities, gifts, and talents add to this community, making us feel valued.
We need community because it teaches and encourages us as followers of Christ.
As believers, we need help navigating our walk with God. We must dig deep into God’s Word and learn it for ourselves. However, we need other believers to teach and direct us in the Word of God. The community often helps us sort out tough questions, doctrine, and theology. Together with personal study, studying the Bible with others strengthens our faith.
Community is not just about sharing our problems and issues, it’s about finding support and encouragement in our fellow believers. We are all redeemed sinners living in a very broken and fallen world, and it can get very discouraging at times. When you have a community around to help you when needed or to pray for you, it can be so uplifting. Seeing God work in the lives of fellow believers reassures us that God is more than capable of hearing our own prayers and needs.
So who is your community? Do you have one? It’s not just important, it’s crucial and needed in the life of a believer. Don’t wait, find your community and start experiencing the benefits of shared faith and support.
Amen!! A room full of believers is great but your own personal tribe of believers that hold each other accountable, pray for/support one another is a wonderful whole experience.
