Parables of Jesus

One at a time

July 22, 2020

If you are in ministry, it is nice to be able to reach the masses. Having a broad audience is powerful and humbling at the same time.

What if you do not have a broad audience?

If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.” (Matthew 18:12-14:NLT)

It does not matter how large your reach, it is who you reach is most important.

In the parable above, the man searches for the sheep that are lost. When the sheep are found, there is great excitement.

From time to time, we look around and compare the reach of our influence to others who have influence also. It can mess with our minds and hearts.

However, it is essential to remember you have influence over the people you encounter.

If it is just one person, that is one more person saved from eternity without Christ. While Jesus loves the whole world, He also cares for each of us each individually.

So we should not look at the size of our audience, but who are we ministering to.

If it is just one, God celebrates that one. Will you?

  1. I’m trying to understand, I truly believe this message is for me. Within the span of give or take a week, I have heard this same message 3 times. I’m praying that GOD clarifies this for me. Wow!!!
