As Christians, we are so blessed to have the Word of God. It speaks to so many areas in our lives. One of the significant advantages is that it provides us with inter security about God. There are many attributes of God in which the Bible describes to us. Even though we will never comprehend who God is entirely, in His graciousness, He has given a glimpse of who He is and how we can trust in Him. Three attributes that gives me the most comfort is that God is Omnipresent, Omniscient, and Omnipotent. These are words may or may not be familiar but let’s take a look at how they provide us with security in God.
First, God is Omnipresent- He is everywhere.
“I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.” (Psalms 139:7-10;NLT).
“The LORD is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3;NLT)
“For God has said, “…I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” (Hebrews 13:5;NLT)
It is comforting to know that you are never alone and never will be alone because God is always there. When family and friends abandon us, God is still there.
Second, God is Omniscient- He knows everything! He knows the past, present and the future. He knew from the beginning of time what would take place today and tomorrow.
“Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.” (Isaiah 46:9-10;NLT)
“O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.” (Psalms 139:1-5;NLT)
We should take comfort in knowing that God is in control of everything. Because of His grace and mercy in our lives, we can have peace in knowing He will take care of us. Nothing takes God by surprise.
Lastly, God is Omnipotent – He is All-Powerful! He just spoke, and the earth was created!
“ The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. He assigned the sea its boundaries and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs. Let the whole world fear the LORD, and let everyone stand in awe of him. For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command.” (Psalms 33:6-9;NLT)
“O Sovereign LORD! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!” (Jeremiah 32:17;NLT)
There is nothing that is impossible with God. He can do anything! When we have struggles and valleys we should know that God can help us through any situation. His Word is true. We have to learn to trust in Him through His Word. When we learn who God is in His Word it gives us the security to know that there is someone greater than us who is in control.
How has God’s Word given you security in knowing the character of God? How has it affected your life?
HE challenges and changes me daily into the women HE desires me to be. HE never forces but allows for me to fail and consistently gives me the option to get back up again and do things In a GODly way. I am forever grateful for his everlasting love and mercy!
