“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.” (I John 1:9)
God in His goodness has forgiven us of our sins. Before time He made a way that we could be forgiven through Christ.
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.” (Ephesians 1:4-7).
In the Word of God, we know that we are sinners. We are not perfect. Never will be on this earth. Sin is a daily factor in our lives. We know that it is sin that can separate us from God. Job in the midst of his sorrow, calls to God to ask how he had sinned. (Job 13:20-14:22). How often do you reflect on the wrong you have done in order to ask for forgiveness? I know I have not done it enough. Do you ask God to bring to mind the wrongs you have done so that you can specifically ask for forgiveness for those things? Sometimes we have short memories when it comes to the things we have done wrong. I know that it is something I need to work on. When we consciously reflect on what we have done wrong in order to confess them to God, we are keeping our relationship with God whole. God knows our sins, but He wants us to put away our pride to acknowledge and confess them to Him.
In our prays today let us search our hearts for anything that we have done to displease God and confess it to Him.
