Staying in tune with God

July 3, 2019

Unbeknown to Abraham, King Abimelech had a relationship with God. (Genesis 20:1-18). Abraham had moved to a foreign land and once again decided to tell the lie that Sarah was his sister. King Abimelech took Sarah, but God warned him in a dream that Sarah was a married woman. God told Abimelech, “ Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me, and why I did not let you touch her.” (Genesis 20:6).

Having a committed relationship with God is so essential to help us from doing the wrong thing. In His way, God prompts us when we are about to do something wrong. Knowing right from wrong comes from a careful study and application of His word. If our minds are clouded with the things of this world (television, social media, relationships issues …), we can’t hear God speaking to us. We must spend time in His Word to know right from wrong. God wants to guide our lives, but we must be willing to do the work and study His Word.

But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.” (Psalms 1:2;NLT)

Has God prompted you to keep you from doing something wrong? Did you listen? I would love to hear your story! Leave a comment or email me!

  1. Each and everyday HE speaks to me to move left or move right. For me personally I can describe how I know it’s from GOD however, I can say I have complete peace and trust in what is told to me. It’s definitely true we must spend time with HIM and not be cluttered by this word so we can know it’s HIS voice we hear/or HIS nudging we feel.

  2. This is so true, we definitely have to make time to study HIS word so we know HIS voice when we hear it. For me personally I can’t describe the feeling I have when I’m prompted to do something that I know for certain cane from the LORD. For me it mostly comes from when a person pops in my head and I have this deep urging to reach out to them—and when I do reach out I learn that they really needed to hear from someone or whatever it is I said made their day that much better or when I see someone on the street and offer to buy them food. Listening to GOD makes all the difference but as you stated we must de clutter all the things that can keep our focus off spending time with the LORD!!!!
