Understanding the Ways of God

March 6, 2019

If you have been a believer in Christ for some time, you know that we will never fully understand the ways of God.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts” Isaiah 55:8-9.

Yet, in His graciousness, He has shown His character to us:

He is our Savior- “For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believe on Him will have everlasting life.” John 3:16

He is our Deliverer – “Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 55:22

His is our Protector – “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

Giver of Peace – “Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3

Our Provider- “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

His is Faithful, Loving, Merciful – “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning” Lamentations 3: 22-23

There are many attributes of God in His Word. We will never understand the why of God’s ways, but He has given us His track record in His Word. We know that He is faithful and true. He is perfect in all of His ways. He is good. There are many ways in which God has and is working in your life. Let’s not dwell on trying to understand the ways of God but thank Him for showing Himself to us.

  1. Leaning not unto my own understanding is where God has me in my daily walk. I am learning to praise Him for this period in my life. My trials are much lighter as I continue to trust and thank Him. He continues to build my maturity, enhance my character, and increase my endurance. I praise Him for this season of growth and the peace that surpasses all understanding.
