Understanding the Bible

Explore Bible in 30 Days

There are multiple methods in which to study the Bible. One I have found to be helpful is the Thirty-Day Bible Study Method. This method is not original to me.

Reading the Bible is an essential part of knowing God’s word better. Studying the Bible is where we get to know the text well.

The Thirty Day Bible study method is where you read or study through the same book of the Bible for thirty days. This method will deepen your understanding of the book, and you will become more familiar with the text.

You can listen and read along or read the book aloud to spice it up a little.

Also, reading a different translation is helpful.

You may think this will take too much time, especially if you think about books like Genesis or Psalms. You might not be able to do this with books like those, but you can with some of the books in the New Testament, such as 1st, 2nd, or 3rd John, or some of the books of prophets in the Old Testament, like Joel of Jonah.

For some of the longer books, you can break the book into sections like half or thirds. That way, you still benefit from reading through the book more than once.

Some months back, I came across this article (Infographic: You Have More Time for Bible Reading than You Think from Crossway.org Click here to read

It shows how long it takes to read through the Bible.

The article breaks down how long it takes to read through the Bible and its various books and sections.

For example, you can read…… Genesis in three hours and thirty minutes, Ruth in fourteen minutes, Matthew in two hours and twenty-one minutes, and the book of James in fifteen minutes.

We will never know the Bible as well as we would like. The Bible is an endless treasure of insight about a good and great God. If we diligently study, we can continue to drink from the well of God’s Word.
